Jazan Gasification and Power Production Complex

The Jazan Complex consists of an Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) power plant, an air separation unit, and associated facilities. It is considered the largest complex of its kind in the world. The complex is located in Jazan Economic City in the southwest of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, adjacent to the Jazan Refinery. The project will be developed and operated as a joint venture between Saudi Aramco Power Company, Air Products, and ACWA Power. The joint venture will own, operate, and transfer the facility under a 25-year contract in accordance with the Build–Own–Operate–Transfer (BOOT) project delivery model. Saudi Aramco will supply the feedstock produced by the refinery, which will be gasified using heat and oxygen generated by the air separation unit to produce hydrogen and synthetic gas fuel. This fuel will be fired in the combined-cycle power plant to generate electricity and steam, which will be used by the Jazan Refinery, in addition to supplying power to the Saudi national grid.
